Thirteen poets have qualified for the big final of the 2016 First Citizens National Poetry Slam.
It is the Caribbean’s biggest Spoken Word event and takes place on May 1, the closing event of the NGC Bocas Lit Fest (April 23 – May 1).
This is the second year of the National Slam but the fourth year that First Citizens has sponsored the Spoken Word event that offers a top prize of $20,000, with prizes for all finalists.
“We’re having our most successful season to date, selling out both semi-final venues. The commitment of First Citizens has been unwavering and we’re just overjoyed to have them partner with us,” says Jean-Claude Cournand, Bocas Lit Fest youth outreach coordinator and founder of the 2Cents Movement.
