Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley last night advised women to be responsible with whom they have relationships with, as he noted that one-third of the murders in the last month were domestic-related.

“These domestic issues usually start or end with women in difficulty in relationships and the State intervened and put...a protection order in place to deal with women and their men--that and all is creating a basis for violent crime,” he said.

“You call on the Prime Minister to do something about crime, I'm not in your bedroom, I'm not in your choice of men, you have a responsibility to determine who you associate with and know when to get out and the State will try to help. But then when the tragedy occurs and it becomes known to the police, the police must now go the extra mile to ensure that there is detection,” said Rowley.

The Prime Minister also said that something is “clearly wrong” in the Police Service as there is record-breaking funds towards national security and more police in the force than anywhere else in the world.

Rowley also said there will be no state of emergency.
