GRANDFATHER Winston Jerricho Cudjoe was yesterday committed to stand trial for the death of his 17-month-old grandson Jaedon Cudjoe. The infant died after he was left for hours in the back seat of Cudjoe’s car while the grandad went to work at Petrotrin at Clarke Road, Penal.
Cudjoe was charged with manslaughter after the May 13, 2014 incident.
There were 17 prosecution witnesses in the case in which State attorney Krishna Jaglal proceeded by way of paper committal, tendering statements into evidence.
The matter began last June.
Before Siparia Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh yesterday, Cudjoe was committed to stand trial before the San Fernando High Court.
Cudjoe, 58, of Penal Rock Road, who has since taken early retirement from his job, was represented by attorney Colin Selvon.
Jaglal made no objection to bail being reinstated for Cudjoe after the committal process.
Deonarinesingh placed Cudjoe on his own bail of $100,000.
