A Trinidadian was found hanging in Tobago on Saturday, at the side of Docksite Recreation Bar.
According to police reports, a worker was in the process of cleaning at the side of Docksite Bar in Scarborough when he stumbled upon the body of Baldeo Chotalal, better known as “Jerry”.
The body was found shortly after noon, in a white jersey and what appeared to be his boxers, with a rope around his neck.
Close friends told the Express Chotalal recently fell into deep depression and had only days before returned from Trinidad, where he visited his sister.
The body was removed to the Scarborough mortuary. Scarborough police are continuing investigations.
There is currently no 24-hour hotline to treat with potential suicide cases in Trinidad or Tobago.
Before attempting suicide last week, 24-year-old Matthew Levi Caesar, a student at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, called the suicide hotline desperate for help.
No one answered, his family said.
The hotline only operates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
