Prizes for mas in the East *

Jelani Reid (Vice President of the Arouca Carnival Committee), presents a trophy to Justin Ramkelawan who placed second in the Individual category of the Children's Carnival portraying “Bush Doctor”.

The Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC), in partnership with the National Carnival Commission (NCC) and in collaboration with the Arouca and Tunapuna Combined Carnival Committees, hosted a Carnival Prize Giving Ceremony on May 4, at 7.30 p.m. at the Tunapuna Community Centre, Corner Priority Bus Route and Centenary Street, Tunapuna.

“Regional Carnivals continue to provide a vital bridge between the National celebrations which happen in Port of Spain and other major city centres and the inclusion of citizens in further rural communities. Not only does it facilitate wider inclusion, it also ensures sustainability and continuity of our valued traditional mas art forms” said Paul Leacock, Chairman of the TPRC.
