‘State can’t proceed on forms already submitted’*

It is now abundantly clear citizens are not to submit any documents related to property tax and all documents that were received by the State should either be returned or destroyed, says Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Justice Frank Seepersad yesterday granted an interim injunction against the Commissioner of Valuations, which effectively blocks the State from receiving valuation return forms (VRFs) as well as the supporting documents.
On May 19, Seepersad granted a stay of implementation and enforcement of the decision by the Government that all property owners were required to complete and submit a VRF. However, the Finance Ministry had stated property owners can voluntarily submit their VRFs.
