Balgobin withdraws lawsuit *

CHAIRMAN of Angostura Holdings Ltd (AHL) Dr Rolph Balgobin said he withdrew his lawsuit against a committee hired by the company to investigate whistle-blower allegations of sexual harassment against him “because the committee subsequently attempted to give me what I had gone to court to get”.

Among Balgobin's requests to the committee were that he be made aware of the identity of the whistle-blower, that both he and his lawyer be allowed to cross-examine the whistle-blower, that he be given copies of all information, documents and evidence tendered against him before he appeared.

The Sunday Express reported that Angostura spent more than a million dollars in legal fees defending a three-member committee comprising Diana Mahabir-Wyatt (chairman of the committee), Annette Rahael and Senator Ian Roach, with the legal support of Marjorie Nunez against an injunction and a civil matter brought against them by Balgobin.
