Gallant T&T beaten twice in ‘Pan Am’*

TRINIDAD and Tobago failed to win a set but were far from disgraced against regional powerhouses in their first two matches in the Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup in Peru.
The six-time Caribbean champions were completely outclassed in one of the six sets, the middle set of their 25-19, 25-12, 25-19 defeat by Canada in yesterday’s opening match in Group B.
T&T had produced arguably their best performance ever in this tournament the day before when they went down 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 in 76 minutes against defending and four-time champions Dominican Republic in the first match of the tournament.
Elizabeth Martinez had led the way for the winners with 12 points, but the other three players to score in double figures were from the T&T outfit as Greece-based Channon Thompson notched 11 points, one more than Krystle Esdelle and Sinead Jack.
