Tropical Storm Bret closes banks

...Bankers Association says it's to protect customers/staff

The Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BATT) has taken the decision to close on Tuesday as a result of the passage of Tropical Storm Bret which is expected to make landfall in Trinidad some time tonight.

In a statement, the Association said: “this has become necessary due to the approaching storm…which will negatively affect weather conditions across the twin islands”.

The Association apologised for the inconvenience but said it wanted to protect the safety of customers and staff “which are our priority at this time”.

Normal operating hours will resume for all banks on Wednesday.
