‘Wheels’ set in motion *

Two of the 13 horses still left in this year's 2,000-metre Trinidad Derby Stakes on August 31 will compete in separate races, on today's eight-race card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.

They are Jamaica-breds Rocket Wheels and Peaceonearth. Neither of the pair are seeking points to to secure their berth in the Derby, but connections of both probably reasoned that their respective races could serve as confidence boosters.

Rocket Wheels will take her place in the sixth race, while Peaceonearth will compete in the fourth race over 1,100 metres. She has been winless since beating Leading Lady by eight lengths last November.

Since then, Rocket Wheels has been beaten by Leading Lady twice and Valorous once. She is now dropping back in trip and this race could be her ‘blowout' ahead of the August 31 Derby.
