A POLICE inspector is expected to shortly appear before the court charged with having protected birds in his possession.
A female relative is also expected to face the Princes Town Court on 440 charges of fraud including money laundering, document falsification and larceny servant offences.
The police inspector yesterday appeared before a Port of Spain magistrate charged with possession of the birds. He was placed on bail and ordered to appear before a Princes Town magistrate today.
The officer and the woman were arrested last Thursday by members of the Fraud Squad. Investigations were led by senior superintendent Totaram Dookhie.
The couple was charged after spending six days in custody. A writ of habeas corpus was filed by the officer's attorney for him to appear before the court but it was later withdrawn.
