A man with a long criminal history was shot dead in the porch of his home in Golconda near San Fernando on Tuesday.
Darryl Vincent, 49, of Ridgewood Gardens, was shot at around 9:45 p.m.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions at that time and responding police officers found Vincent's body on a sofa in the porch.
Vincent had been shot in the chest and legs.
Police found seven shell casings at the scene.
In 2003, Vincent was acquitted of the murder of a Rio Claro businessman in 1997.
In 2009, he was allowed to leave court ona bond to keep the peace after pleading guilty to armed robbery.
ASP Neptune, Insp Gajadhar, Insp Sookoo, PC Rambhajan and officers of the homicide division are continuing with investigations.
