The youthful Centric Cricket Academy returned home with the lion share of the silverware following a successful three-match tour against Worldwide Academy over the Labour Day weekend (Sept 2-5) at the Miramar Regional Park, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Based in central Trinidad, the Academy, which was launched in June, was on its first overseas assignment and came up trumps by sweeping the three-match series 3-0 against their more matured counterparts.

Centric had all-round meaningful contributions from several of its players, with top order batsman Ronaldo Villafana stroking five boundaries in scoring a match-high 45 of 55 balls in the third match, as they posted a match-winning 126 for the loss of six wickets off their 20 overs.
Giovanni Gajadhar, Z. Dookree and Vasant Singh turned in good performances with the ball, as Gajadhar snared three wickets for 12 runs in his four-over spell while Dookree picked up two wickets in conceding 13 runs off three overs and Singh had figures of one for 17.
Gajadhar picked up the Man-of-the-Match award for his spell with the ball.
At the end of the series, Villafana copped the "Most Valuable Player" award for his exploits with the bat. He scored 143 runs at an average of 71.5. And Singh, who picked up seven wickets at an economy rate of 4.56 and a series best 3/31, won the "Best Bowler" award.

The Academy, which is a project of The Centric Movement, is already beginning to showcase its potential by emerging victorious on its first international assignment.
