A POLICE officer who went to buy a piece of jewellery advertised on social media was instead robbed of $5,000 by the seller on Tuesday.
The 20 year old constable was accosted when he went to an abandoned shack in Tableland.
The officer was said to have two years' service in the TTPS and is attached to the Central Police Division.
A report said the officer saw a gold chain advertised on Facebook and when he inquired he was directed to meet the seller at Neckcheddy Road.
The officer was further directed to an abandoned shack.
Upon arriving there he walked in to make the purchase, but instead was met by a man who held him at gun point.
The officer was relieved of the cash and allowed to leave the premises.
He reported the incident to the Tableland Police and Cpl Mohammed is continuing investigations.
