New programme enlists help of civic groups, religious bodies and local govt *

THE GOVERNMENT'S latest crime initiative, set to be unveiled in the coming months, will see a combined collaboration between civic society and law enforcement.

Sources say the National Crime Prevention Programme (NCPP) is the brainchild of parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of National Se­curity Glenda Jennings-Smith. They say it has adopted a strategic policy with the tag lines “Protecting our People” and “Whole of Government”.

An official announcement was made by Finance Minister Colm Imbert during last Monday's 2017/2018 budget presentation.
