‘Ask the board’: Rohan Sinanan


There was no political hand in the firing of Port Authority general manager Charmaine Lewis, says Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan. Sinanan, when asked by the Express on Tuesday when news broke of the firing if he had given any instruction or intervened in any way to direct Lewis’s termination, responded: “Of course not. That is not the minister’s purview.” He said the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and its board of commissioners chaired by Alison Lewis are responsible for the port’s operational matters, and there was no need to even inform him this action was to be taken.
