ON day three of the unfolding flood disaster in South Trinidad, the Defence Force was deployed into the flood-stricken villages of the South Oropouche lagoon.  The soldiers were expected to work alongside officials of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) and regional corporation workers to assist victims in Debe, Penal, Barrackpore and Woodland. The Express captured images of the members of the Defence Force arriving in Barrackpore on six-wheeler trucks into the flood-stricken villages and the National Security Ministry issued a release stating that some 200 residents were requesting rescue by the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation (PDRC).
