IN stark contrast to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management's (ODPM) deputy CEO, Colonel Dave Williams who viewed the flooding situation over the last few days as “small thing”, National Security Ministry Edmund Dillon yesterday described as a “very serious situation” the extent of flooding in several parts of the country.
“In the areas we visited there are a number of people who are severely affected. We saw people who were stranded and we assisted them as much as possible,” Dillon told reporters yesterday.
“If people are affected I would say it is a very serious situation. Once people are affected you have to put yourself in their position and try to bring relief as quickly as possible to them,” he emphasised.
