The Mosquito Creek is still flooded

This was the state of the Mosquito Creek at 8a.m on Sunday.

THE SOUTH Trunk Road in the vicinity of Mosquito Creek, South Oropouche was deemed "passable" to motoring traffic on Sunday morning, but continuous rain showers may slow the progress of the overnight efforts.

Director of Highways Navin Ramsingh said on Sunday that preliminary reports to him indicated that water levels had dropped and the road was passable.

Ramsingh said that by midday the South Trunk Road should be "fully dewatered".  Minister of Works Rohan Sinanan said on Saturday that crews would work overnight to

repair a breach to the New Cut Channel in South Oropouche and five pumps would be engaged to eradicate from the South Trunk Road - the main thoroughfare for thousands of people commuting to the south-west peninsular.

Ramsingh said however that areas in Debe, Woodland and Penal were still flooded.
