POLICE are searching for a 20-year-old man in connection with the rape of a seven-year-old girl in Central Trinidad on Saturday.
The suspect has not been seen since the assault, police said.
Police said the incident occurred at around 1.20 p.m. Saturday the child was attacked at her grandmother's home.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the child in a bathroom.
The child's grandmother heard the child scream and intervened.
The suspect ran out of the house and escaped.
A report was made to police and officers are searching for the suspect.
Officers of the Police Service's Victims of Crime Support Unit are expected to meet with the child and relatives for counselling.
Officers of the Child Protection Unit are investigating.
