17 minutes from crime to capture

...five in custody


WITHIN 17 minutes of the crime, police had in custody five men who robbed a bar and fired on customers during an attack in Sangre Grande shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Officers of the Sangre Grande CID, Task Force and Crime Patrol, also seized a revolver and a quantity of ammunition, when they responded to a report of a robbery and shooting at Orinoco Bar, Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, at around 1a.m. 

Some seventeen minutes later, a white AD wagon, with five male occupants was intercepted and searched.

 Police found a gun and three bullets. Also recovered were two cellular phones and a quantity of cash stolen during the robbery .

The five male suspects; a 30-year-old, a 17-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 42-year-old, all of Sangre Grande, a 46-year-old of Ste. Madeleine, were arrested in connection with the incident and the finds, and are expected to be charged with robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent and possession of firearm and ammunition.
