Police corporal on assault charge *

‘$80,000 bail’: Billy Ramsundar


THE police officer who allegedly assaulted T&T Guardian photographer Kristian De Silva and destroyed his digital camera two months ago, while he was covering an assignment in Penal, has been slapped with two criminal charges.

Officers of the Police Complaints Division laid the charges against the 47-year-old officer, Cpl Billy Ramsundar, on Wednesday evening after receiving instructions from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard, SC, earlier in the day.

Ramsundar is the husband of People's National Movement Senator Allison Baksh, daughter of Hanif Nazim Baksh, owner of A&V Oil and Gas Drilling and ­Workover.
