Piarco back to normal after chaos *

Dillon, Airports Authority apologise for chaos

National Security Minister Edmund Dillon

National Security Minister Edmund Dillon last night apologised to all travellers who were inconvenienced on Sunday following the absence of immigration officers at Piarco International Airport.

In a release, the ministry said the minister confirmed receipt of a report on the incident submitted by the Chief Immigration Officer and, following investigations, any persons found in breach of the Immigration Act would be dealt with accordingly.

“The Ministry of National Security is tonight assuring travellers that such a situation will not be repeated as an emergency system has been implemented to mitigate any future re-occurrence. Minister Dillon reiterates that the Ministry of National Security will continue to exercise all necessary measures to ensure excellence in service delivery to our people and nation,” the release added.
