Ex-players question ‘Windies’ team switch*


Don’t tamper with the legacy of West Indies cricket. Two former Test players have voiced their disapproval of the regional governing body’s decision to change the name of the representative teams from West Indies to Windies. In May, the then-called West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced a comprehensive rebranding programme, including a name change to Cricket West Indies (CWI).  In announcing the changes via a media release, CEO Johnny Grave, said: “Cricket West Indies better reflects how the organisation operates, as there are many different stakeholders who we work in partnership with, under the unifying aim of improving cricket at all levels within the region.
