Sheldon Blackman is putting all his pain and emotional turmoil behind him with his new album project New Day.
Blackman said the title track of the 15-song album was born out of his recent divorce from Norwegian-Ghanaian, Lamisi Gurah. The Norway-based performer said the project, set to be released tomorrow at Kaiso Blues Café, Woodford Street, Port of Spain, is all about finding the strength to move forward from painful experiences.
“That (divorce) was definitely a painful process. It really tests where you stand and what you're made of, to go through that is not funny. (But) yesterday is gone and it's time to move forward,” Blackman said between nervous laughs when he sat with the Express at the family's rehearsal space and band room, on Tuesday evening, on Forde Street, Arouca.
