Angostura whistleblower hires Ramesh *

SENIOR counsel Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj yesterday called on the Prime Minister to ensure that the investigation into claims of sexual harassment made by an executive at spirits producer Angostura (AHL) be resumed.

He said Angostura misled the public with statements that it conducted a proper investigation into the allegations made by the woman executive at the Laventille-based company.

On January 3, the Express first reported that in November 2016, the senior executive filed a report at the Morvant Police Station, alleging sexual harassment by Angostura chairman Dr Rolph Balgobin.

The employee had also, through the company's whistleblower policy, made a complaint to Angostura's Audit Committee.
