JSC summons for Piggott *

Former chairman summoned as JSC hears of $M contracts, abuse of resources at State firm

no response: Arnold Piggott


THE Education Facilities Company Ltd (EFCL) under its previous board of directors went rogue and the man under whose chairmanship much of the rogue activity was alleged to have taken place (former chairman Arnold Piggott) is now being summoned to appear before the Joint Select Committee of Parliament.

This following his failure to respond positively to the JSC's invitation to give testimony yesterday.

At yesterday's meeting, the chairman of the JSC on State Enterprises, David Small, expressed his disappointment that Piggott did not come, and in addition, expressed concern that Piggott's letter indicating his non-appearance appeared in the media before it reached the committee.

Piggott, a former PNM government minister, who was EFCL chairman from October 2015 to May 2016, resigned amid controversy about allegations of irregularities and impropriety at the special purpose State company.
