Fired IT technicians want Minister to reconsider*

SOME 150 information technology (IT) technicians, whose contracts were not renewed by the Ministry of Education, are facing a sad Christmas.The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) is now appealing to Education Minister Anthony Garcia to reconsider the move. A group of the former employees, who serviced the primary and secondary schools systems, gathered yesterday at the ministry’s St Vincent Street, Port of Spain, headquarters seeking answers, but declined to speak to the media for fear of victimisation.
