THIEVES carrying tools broke through a wall of a supermarket in San Fernando and looted thousands worth in alcohol, cigarettes and phone cards overnight.
Employees of Cocoyea Supermarket at Naparima Mayaro Road, Cocoyea, found a gaping hole in the wall of the business place on Tuesday morning.
They entered the supermarket and found the shelves emptied of the items.
No cash was stolen from the premises, police said.
Officers of the Mon Repos Police Station, as well as fingerprint and crime scene experts scoured the scene for evidence to lead to the perpetrators.
Officers are also hoping that closed circuit television footage will assist in the arrest of suspects.
