IN this column I present a dichotomy that is before the State when it comes to education and race, the choices being ostrich or eagle.
The ostrich classically, puts its head in the sand, where it cannot see.
Ostrich theory says if I cannot see something then it isn’t there.
The eagle on the other hands soars high in the sky, from which vantage point it can survey the terrain, make assessments and act.
Ostrich theory has silence as its main strategy.
