Cops to hunt down Beetham badmen

...review of security camera footage

This was the state of the Beetham Highway, Port of Spain on Thursday.

THE Beetham Gardens residents who blocked the highway, damaged vehicles and caused mayhem in the city on Thursday, will be hunted down and prosecuted.

This was the assurance given Friday by acting Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams who attended a press conference hosted by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

Williams said a special team had been appointed with the assignment of reviewing the security camera footage of the activity at Beetham Gardens after police officers went into the area and detained two criminal suspects.

The protesters, among them women and children, later claimed they were demonstrating to bring attention to clogged drains.

It took the police and soldiers hours to bring order to the area, and the Priority Bus Route was opened to allow traffic to flow.

Rowley today called on the police and Defence Force to act against anyone blocking the roads and breaking the laws anywhere in Trinidad and Tobago.
