A Valencia man was denied bail when he appeared before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with possession of firearm and resisting arrest.
Nehru Mohammed, 33, of Clarence Trace, Valencia, appeared before Senior Magistrate Debra Quintyne, in the Sangre Grande 1st Magistrates' Court.
Mohammed was arrested by officers of the Sangre Grande CID, Task Force, and Crime Patrol Unit, who responded to a report of a man being observed with a firearm at Clarence Trace, around 1:20pm, on Sunday.
The officers confronted the accused shortly after and attempted to disarm him. During the struggle, the firearm; a pistol and an empty magazine, were retrieved and the man arrested.
The cases were adjourned to November 29.
Mohammed was charged by PC Arvin Boodram.
