Better ways to handle domestic violence*

It seems the Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC) and The UWI Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) are collaborating to further erode the fundamental rights of the people of T&T. And all for a good cause. On Friday, the EOC and the IGDS held a forum to extend the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, a piece of legislation which, when passed by Parliament in 2006, required a three-fifths majority since certain clauses contravened Sections 4 and 5 of the Constitution.  But it appears that neither the members of the EOC nor the IGDS actually read the Act before making their list of proposals.
