CJ Ivor Archie should step down*

When Ivor Archie was appointed Chief Justice at a relatively young age, such that he would serve for 14 years before retirement, I was happy at the prospect that this appointment created the opportunity for many of the ills of the judiciary to be addressed and remedied.
Within a short period however, criticisms of Mr Archie by the legal fraternity surfaced, beginning with what was deemed to be excessive travel. Instead of explaining why he had to be away from office Mr Archie’s surprising response, I recall, was—“you can’t stop me from travelling”, which I found more arrogant than informative.
