A MAN appeared in court on Monday charged with the murder of prison officer Richard Sandy.
Quincy Noel, 33, appeared before San Fernando Magistrate Cheryl Ann Antoine.
Noel is alleged to have murdered Sandy on October 8, at Caratal Road, Gasparillo.
Sandy, 48, a father of five, was attached to the Maximum Security Prison.
Noel was additionally charged with assault of Adrian Jackson, as well as possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was not called up to plead as the charges, were laid indictably.
Noel did not have an attorney and told the magistrate that he did not want to apply for legal aid.
He told the court that he was a father of four and was employed as a pipefitter.
Noel was remanded into custody until December 18.
