Ex-murder accused nabbed in $300,000 theft

A MAN recently released from prison after his murder case was dismissed has been detained for a $300,000 robbery at a restaurant in Chaguanas.

The 32 year old suspect of Crown Trace, Enterprise, Chaguanas was released from prison in February, police said.

At around 9.30 a.m. Monday, the manager of Hanggers Extreme at Heartland Plaza, Endeavour, found that the premises broken into and the safe lodged at the restaurant was missing.

The safe contained $300,000, police were told.

Sgts Pierre and Mohammed, and WPC Joseph investigated and inquiries led to the suspect.

The safe has not been recovered, police said.

In an unrelated incident, a Pizza Boys outlet was robbed by gun-toting thieves on Wednesday.

At around 5.45 p.m. two men, one with a firearm, announced a hold up at the outlet at Cunupia.

They robbed the cashier of $5,000, and stole cell phones from employees and a patron.

They ran off with the loot.
