DR president proposes tourism plan with T&T*

The president of the Caribbean’s largest economy by gross domestic product (GDP) and the best performing tourist destination in the Caribbean by number of visitors, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) State of the Industry Report 2016 (before Hurricanes Irma and Maria), is proposing a plan that would benefit Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Cuba, Puerto Rico and other islands. Dominican Republic president Danilo Medina Sánchez, while addressing the United Nations gala dinner and tourism icon awards at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, on November 28 said: “The Caribbean stands to benefit greatly from the positioning of the region as a unified destination in the global tourism market.”
