Book ‘Tito’ to bring Chile, T&T together*

Strengthening relations: Chilean writer Marcelo Simonetti, left, during his first visit to Trinidad and Tobago, meets with Chilean Ambassador to T&T Fernando Schmidt. Simonetti was in Trinidad to finalise a series of projects for 2018, including launching his young adult novel, Tito, in Trinidad.

Trinidad and Tobago and Chile are unique multicultural societies, but Chilean writer Marcelo Simonetti wants to close the gap that exists between both countries through literature.
The author of popular Chilean novel Tito was recently in Trinidad to start the process of launching his book in T&T and other English-speaking Caribbean countries, and to finalise a couple of projects with which he would be involved as part of the annual Bocas Lit Fest.
Tito will be launched in Trinidad in April 2018 to coincide with the literary festival.
Tito, a young adult novel, has been translated to English by Jamaica-based Ian Randle Publishers.
