NO WORLD CUP BID *

Minister cites lack of funding, SPORTT chairman concerns

The Trinidad and Tobago Government will not be supporting the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board's bid to host 2018 ICC Women's T20 World Cup matches, citing financial constraints and issues raised by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT) chairman Dinanath Ramnarine.

Contacted last evening and with today's deadline date for bids bearing down, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Darryl Smith said: “We will not be bidding. I will be writing the PS (permanent secretary) for her to advise stakeholders of the decision.”
