Teenager Shakeela Phillip disappeared somewhere along her journey from Port of Spain to Chaguanas on Saturday night.
And relatives of the 16-year-old secondary school pupil are now pleading for assistance.
Phillip lives with her mother in Carapichaima.
On Saturday, the teenager visited her father, Sheldon Phillip, in Sea Lots.
Councillor Allan Samuel said Phillip placed his daughter in a taxi bound for Chaguanas at around 7pm.
“He gave his daughter money to go to school and placed her in a taxi. He knows the driver so he felt safe sending her. But she never arrived home and her mother called looking for her,” he said.
Police interviewed the taxi driver who claimed the teenager was dropped off at Busy Corner, Chaguanas.
Investigators are now trying to secure CCTV footage from businesses in the area.
Samuel said the teen visited her father frequently and would return home.
He said the girl's mother became worried when she did not return home and contacted her father.
Relatives said the teenager had no reason to run away from home and had no belonging with her.
A report was made at the Chaguanas police station.
Anyone with information can contact Samuel at 750-2195 or the nearest police station.
