Three missing girls in abandoned house: 'Sealots residents said nothing'

...councillor appaled

Flashback: Police officer in an anti-crime operation in Sealots, Port of Spain.

COUNCILLOR for St Ann's River South Allan Samuel has called for regular police patrols in Sea Lots after missing schoolgirl Shakeela Phillip was found in an abandoned house on Monday.

Police also found two other missing girls, ages 15 and 20, at the house.

Phillip, 16, was reported missing on Saturday night after she failed to return to her Carapichaima home.

The teen visited her father in Sea Lots and was placed in a Chaguanas-bound taxi at around 7p.m.

In an interview with police, the taxi driver said Phillip was dropped off at Busy Corner, Chaguanas that night.

Police confirmed that the teen was dropped off and later entered a waiting car.

She returned to Sea Lots where she stayed at the abandoned house.

Samuel said he got information that the girl was spotted in the area and contacted the police.

Phillip had already removed her braids and transformed her appearance, he said.

The three girls were taken into police custody and interviewed.

Samuel said, “I feel miserable, appalled and angry. There are demons living among us. These people living in the area are aware that this girl is staying at that house and never contacted the police. They know the father, they see the pain he is going through looking for his child. And still nobody found it necessary to tell him. Only demons can do that.”

Samuel said he would be requesting regular police patrols in the Sea Lots district to ensure that a similar incident does not happen again.
