APPRENTICE Andrew Poon was ecstatic after his winning ride aboard trainer Harold Chadee's Prince Of Bellevue, who scored a minor upset (10/1) in yesterday's 1,350-metre SFA Trial Stakes at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.
The Dave Chadee-owned bay son of Repent/Legally Ready scored by half-length from Golden Day, as Panman Blue and Fancy Footwork rounded out the minor placings. The winning time in the extended sprint was 1:24.41 on a fast track.
Poon, speaking to the Express after the event, said: “It was a very nice feeling. I knew I won the race at the corner. Golden Bay passed me, but my horse was travelling better.” Poon starred on last Tuesday's Boxing Day card, riding a triple.
