Our fallen WI Federation*


Sixty years ago on January 3, 1958, the people of the English-­speaking Caribbean witnessed the birth of the West Indian Federation. Notwithstanding its demise four years later, it represented an opportunity to create a regional institution that may have positioned our region in a better place than we now hold in international affairs. As it is, the date and the period has lost its significance because our sense of history is perpetually abused. Others have said before me there is a deafening silence regarding affairs that should concern us.
