THE Caribbean Airlines flight attendant arrested after a firearm and ammunition were found inside a vehicle in which he was seated, was not on active duty.
Caribbean Airlines yesterday issued a media statement on the incident.
The release read: “The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service by way of media release dated January 2 has indicated that a 31 year old male flight attendant wo works with Caribbean Airlines was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in Sangre Grande on Sunday December 21, 2017, and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized from his vehicle by officers of the Eastern Division Task Force. The individual was not on active duty at the time of the arrest”.
Police said the attendant and a woman were seated in an Audi A4 parked opposite Sangre Grande police station around 8 p.m. Sunday.
EDTF officers conducting an anti-crime exercise searched the vehicle and allegedly found a Beretta pistol and ten rounds of ammunition in the back seat.
A 31-year-old man of Boodoo Highway, Sangre Grande and a 37-year-old woman of Malabar Extension, Malabar, were arrested in connection with the find.
They were expected to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate this week.
