EFCL to pay $.7m after losing lawsuit*

THE Education Facilities Company Ltd (EFCL) has been ordered by a High Court judge to pay another company, Advance Commercial Equipment Ltd, close to $.7 million after it failed to keep its side of an agreement for the supply of cafeteria equipment for three secondary schools.
The order came after EFCL failed to enter a defence in response to the lawsuit filed by the supplies company as it sought to recover the owed sum. But even though Justice Davindra Rampersad ordered that EFCL pay the outstanding money, he granted a stay of execution of the order for a period of 60 days.
