2018 will test Caricom’s collective resolve*


Events toward the end of 2017 demonstrated that both the United States and the European Union (EU) have no qualms about using a big stick to get their way. In a letter to ambassadors of many developing countries, including Caricom states, on December 19, the US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley minced no words when she wrote: “The president will be watching this vote carefully and has requested I report back on those countries who voted against us. We will take note of each and every vote on this issue.”
