This column continues last week’s contribution on the major political events which punctuated the 2017 political landscape. Trinidad and Tobago experienced one of the worst tropical storms in its history in the form of Bret last June which wreaked havoc, with many suffering the devastating effects of the ensuing floods. The Opposition then accused the Prime Minister of being “missing in action” as some stormy politics erupted in the Parliament.
The month of June also saw the return of Marlene McDonald to the Cabinet as Minister of Public Utilities after she had been fired for alleged misfeasance in public office. She would be one of the shortest serving ministers in the history of T&T as her appointment was revoked two days later.
