I must state at the outset that I am first and foremost a Trinbagonian. My opinions are not shaped by any political party, I continue to view my country through red, white and black lenses.
It is with a sense of relief that I read in the Express of January 12 of the intended collaboration between the Government and Opposition on legislation to address the crime scourge. Sadly it took the killing of schoolboy Joshua Andrews to bring about this welcome change.
In my view, those elected to the House of Representatives have a sacred duty to represent the people to the best of their ability. In too many instances, however, it is apparent that scoring political points assumes ascendancy.
