The Government is not negotiating with a company in Singapore to purchase a cruise to provide sea-bridge services from Trinidad to Tobago.
However, the Government is in the process of finalising the acquisition of a suitable brand-new roll on/roll off (ROPAX) vessel to accommodate passengers and vehicles for the inter-island ferry service.
In a release issued on Friday, Finance Minister Colm Imbert stated that the very large and fancy cruise ferry identified in a Newsday article on Friday, was false information.
He stated that the newspaper article which claimed that Government was negotiating with Singapore Technologies Marine Limited to purchase the vessel was “completely erroneous, false and misleading”.
Imbert noted that the Government would provide further details on the new vessel as soon as it becomes available.
Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan said he was unable to reveal information on the new vessel, when contacted by the Express. He said the process was being finalised and he would make that information public soon.
