Aaron St Louis avoids the title of “star” at all costs.
With consecutive International Soca Monarch titles and a seemingly never ending conveyor belt of hit releases, it’s easy to understand why the boy, the whole Caribbean Diaspora knows as Voice, is being touted as the genre’s next marquee act. Still, the San Juan-born soca crooner insists he is by no means the finished article and has a long road ahead before he can live up to that sort of billing.
“It’s a good thing to be called soca music’s next megastar, but at the same time I won’t let that get to me. I feel as though I have a lot of room for improvement in terms of songwriting, performances, singing and recording.
“There is a lot of work that needs to be done for me to feel comfortable with the position I am in. Some people decide where you are in terms of titles or in terms of hit songs, but for me that is just part of the package I want to present to any international agent.
